Blessing Dress Vision

A Few months ago I was contacted by a cute pregnant lady who had heard that I did custom sewing.  She had 3 boys and was finally pregnant with a little girl!!  She was so excited to dress her up for her blessing day! Over the following few months she emailed me several different pictures of blessing dresses that she liked, but there were certain things about each of them that she didn't love. So finally last week for the first time I was able to meet her in person! We met at the fabric store and sat down and went through several of the images that she sent me to figure out exactly what she liked and didn't like about each one. This dress could not have been more custom. We borrowed sleeve shapes from one dress, ruffles from another, ruffle sizes from another, etc, etc.
I was so excited! I LOVE when people want something unique and let me help them in bringing it full circle. She chose a beautiful satin crepe for the base of the dress and the ruffles. The lace is a gorgeous hand beaded wedding lace that is embroidered with flowers and has sequins and pearls hand sewn into the flowers. It also has this beautiful scalloped edge that is done in white with a hint of silver. She also chose some beautiful buttons that have flowers on them and match the whole thing perfectly.  I took a basic blessing dress pattern and changed it to make it exactly what I wanted for this dress.  I also made a soft cotton slip so the seems of the dress wouldn't feel so harsh against her soft skin.  5 days and 5.5 yards of fabric later, it's done!! Isn't it beautiful. This sweet girl was such a good sport too. She came to my house after having had shots :(, and she even let me take her picture.

This dress is available for order here in my etsy shop.  Or if you would like to order a custom dress for your sweet girl for a baptism, blessing or any special occasion let me know.  Every girl deserves to look beautiful on her special day, regardless of what day that might be. :)

Maxi Skirt

I have MAJOR cabin fever. So, I thought I'd make something bright and summery. Outfits to make me feel better! I just love how this maxi skirt turned out. It reminds me of a Popsicle :) You can find the tutorial here. I'm working on a tutorial now to show you how to make a waist band out of Jersey fabric instead of elastic to give it a more comfy yoga pant type feel.  So comfy you will never want to take it off!
Also if you don't want to make it but would like to buy one already made. You can order it from my Etsy store here or contact me directly.

Baby Boy Onsie

Maybe it's because I've been making too many girls clothes but I am SO in love with these cute baby boy tie onsies! I made this by doing the same thing that I did in this Christmas tie onsie tutorial.  I also made a skinnier tie version with a vest and suspenders here. If you haven't tried it you should. It's pretty simple for such an adorable result. And if you'd rather just buy it you can find it here in my etsy store. :)

18' Doll wrap skirt

My Cute little crafter is in love with her 18' Doll. Who wouldn't be really they are so super cute. She really wanted to make a denim skirt for her doll. I found a free wrap skirt pattern here. It's super simple and Deja loved it because she was able to cut out the pattern by herself and then pin it on some scrap denim fabric that we had laying around and cut that fabric out. I helped her pin it together and then we sewed the seams together and serged the edges for a finished look. Next we just added 2 button holes at the waist and 2 buttons and voila. Turned out super cute and She loved that she got to be a part of creating it.

Custom projects

I have been crazy busy this last couple of weeks doing some custom projects. One of my favorites being a cute Sister Missionary's skirt collection. She ordered 3 lace skirts, navy blue, Ivory & Black.  She also ordered two maxi skirts, A basic black one and a navy blue one with a fabric chevron overlay. She wanted the fabric overlay to have the chevron look. It was a little more complicated than I originally thought it would be but I was excited to be able to learn something new. And it turned out adorable.

Pictures of the Maxi skirts along with a fabric waisted Maxi tutorial coming soon.

My custom lace skirts are available here in my Etsy store.

Valentine's decor

Have you ever been to the wood connection. You should be warned that it's very addictive. They sale all kinds of fun wood pieces that are all cut out and you purchase the wood, the scrapbook paper, paint, glitter, ribbon, whatever you need right there in the store. It's such a fun store. They have pieces all over that they have made that are adorably cute. You can copy what they have exactly if you want, or do your own thing. Oh, and did I mention that they also have a kids play room & fresh baked cookies. Bonus!!
I got this cute I heart U. I love how fun it turned out. I painted it red, cut out scrapbook paper & Modge podged it on, glittered it and once it's dried its done. Gotta love a fun project you can get done in an hour or two while watching TV :)
