Bridesmaid madness

A couple of months ago I was hired to make 6 bridesmaids dresses for my adorable cousin's upcoming wedding. I was so flattered.

They wanted to combine these 2 patterns

which as you can see are way different.

They wanted the simple top with sleeves, although they wanted them shortened to be a cap sleeve.

The Skirt portion they wanted similar to long flowing green dress (this is the McCall's Pattern M5806) they liked the scrunched up sash & empire waste.

In the process of making them I had to label the hangers and attach my notes to the hanger so I wouldn't get mixed up.
The girls shapes varied from a size 2 to a size 20 from a B cup size to an F cup size! One of the girls was pregnant, 1 very short and 2 of them were extremely tall, I had to add 5 inches in length to both of their dresses! So, needless to say, there was a lot of guessing and trying to come up with things on my own to make them work.

All in all, I think they turned out great. Each one was altered to fit their bodies perfectly. I wanted them to feel comfortable & confident in them.

I am so flattered that they asked me & am hoping to do more of these types of things in the future!

The beautiful pictures of the bridesmaids were taken by Andrea at Andrea Tuft Photography check out her blog here. She's AMAZING!

  1. These dresses turned out sooo pretty. I think that I may have you make me a dress because I,like most of the DeMie girls, have such odd shapes that I end up only buying skirts and tops because the store sizes never seem to fit. This way you can make it to fit my odd size body. Perfect solution!

  2. I will for sure! It's always a more flattering fit when it's custom made anyway. Let's do it, that would be fun!
